Defence Budget and Its Future

Defence Expenditure constitutes an important part of the Government expenditure and needs detailed economic analysis. There are not many detailed studies analysing defence expenditure in India from the economic point of view. The economic issues have gained relative supremacy over all the other issues in the recent past, especially after the end of the allocation of expenditure and determinants of defence budget assume greater importance. This is especially true in the case of developing countries, which have to manage development along with stability. In the present study the attempt is made to analyse some of the important issues related to defence expenditure through an empirical economic analysis.
